Ash trees serve as valuable shade trees in urban landscapes. The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a small, metallic green beetle that poses a threat to every ash tree across North America. These larvae consume the inner bark of ash trees, interrupting the tree's capacity to distribute water and nutrients, ultimately resulting in tree death.
The EAB has become a permanent fixture. It can be found in every Illinois county and has been confirmed in Winnebago County. Without treatment, an infested ash tree will perish within 3-5 years.
The good news: Tree Care can preserve your ash trees using TREE-age®, an insecticide treatment with proven effectiveness. Applied as a trunk injection at the tree's base, this method enters the tree's vascular system rather than being sprayed on leaves or bark. As a result, it remains harmless to animals, birds, and insects on the tree. TREE-age® eliminates 100% of EAB larvae feeding on treated tree leaves. Treatment occurs every three years.
