Doug Edwards has been a cornerstone of Tree Care Enterprises since 1981, working alongside founder John Richards for more than four decades. Over that time, he has played a central role in building and leading the company's Tree division, overseeing both operations and sales. Today, Doug focuses primarily on sales, where his experience and practical knowledge continue to guide clients and crews alike.
Doug holds both the Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) and the Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) designation, reflecting his deep commitment to safety and sound arboricultural practices.
In parallel with his career in tree care, Doug dedicated over 40 years to the fire service, beginning in 1981 and retiring in 2023 as a respected leader and instructor. He served as a battalion chief in Cherry Valley and continues to instruct at the Illinois Fire Service Institute at the University of Illinois, helping train the next generation of firefighters.
Beyond the Job
Doug and his wife Karen raised their two sons, Alex and Trevor, around the hockey rink — traveling across the Midwest for games and tournaments. Today, that tradition continues with their grandchildren, keeping Doug closely connected to the same community and values that have shaped both his personal and professional life.
